2024

The Prof. João Meidanis (IC/Unicamp) is one of the co-authors of the article “The genome and population genomics of allopolyploid Coffea arabica reveal the diversification history of modern coffee cultivars” published on 15/04/2024 by the magazine Nature.

2022

Prof. Breno de França (IC/Unicamp) was awarded the Distinguished PC Member Award of the “XVI Brazilian Symposium on Software Components, Architectures and Reuse (SBCARS 2022)” for his competent performance in the evaluation and selection of the articles participating in the event.

2021

Professors Alexandre Falcão, Anderson Rocha and Jacques Wainer were at the top of the ranking of researchers in Computer Science in Brazil according to Guide2Research (https://guide2research.com/scientists/BR) according to data from 16/05 / 2020. This ranking is based on h-index, citations and number of DBLP documents. This ranking listed 33 scientists.

The prof. Maria Cecília Calani Baranaukas is honored by SIGCHI with the SIGCHI Social Impact Award. This selection is a recognition of their contributions to science and their promotion.

Professor Claudia Maria Bauzer Medeiros was elected “Fellow” in the “engineering sciences" from The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), whose publication of 15/12/2020 brings the election of its 35 new members, among which are 4 Brazilians. The results are effective as of January 1, 2021.

The professor at the Computing Institute Sandra Eliza Fontes de Avila was selected in the selection process of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI), having been nominated by the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, to represent Brazil in the category of young researcher in the “5th BRICS Young Scientist Forum ”, to be held in September 2020, as part of the BRICS Summit (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).”

Profa. Cecília Rubira (IC / Unicamp) was the researcher honored in 2020 by Special Commission on Software Engineering (CEES) of SBC. Annually CEES honors researchers who had an active participation in the history of SBES, with a relevant contribution to Software Engineering in Brazil. 

2019

Prof. Breno França (IC / Unicamp) together with students Karine Birnfeld, Diogo Campos da Silva and prof. Weverton Cordeiro from INF / UFRGS, received the award for best article for the work entitled “P4 Switch Code Data Flow Analysis: Towards Stronger Verification of Forwarding Plane Software”, at the IEEE / IFIP Network Operations and Management Symposium (NOMS 2020). It is noteworthy that the conference had 241 articles submitted and 72 articles were accepted (acceptance rate ~ 29.8%)

2018

Profª. Maria Cecília Calani Baranauskas was invited to serve as a “member of the Governing Board” of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE).

Vasconcelos (UFF) and Eduardo Valle (FEEC), received the “Best Paper Award” for the work entitled “Data Augmentation for Skin Lesion Analysis ”, at the ISIC Skin Image Analysis Workshop, at the International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI), 2018.

2017

Profa. Sandra Eliza Fontes de Avila together with students Afonso Menegola (FEEC) and Michel Fornaciali (FEEC), and with teachers Flávia V. Bittencourt (UFMG) and Eduardo Valle (FEEC), received “Honorable Mention” for the work entitled “Knowledge Transfer for Melanoma Screening with Deep Learning ”, at the 12th Brazilian Conference on Melanoma, 2017.

The article “An automatic testbench generation tool for a SystemC functional verification methodology”. Karina RG da Silva, Elmar UK Melcher, Guido Araujo. SBCCI 2004. won the Test of Time award from the Symposium on Integrated Circuits and Systems Design (SBCCI) 2014. The Test of Time 2014 award was given to the article with the highest number of citations in the 2004 edition (10 years old) of the event.

Prof. Dr. Alexandre Xavier Falcão received the award at the ICPR 2014 event (Stockholm, Sweden) for the publication of the article “Efficient supervised optimum-path forest classification for large datasets” published in the 45th edition of the Pattern Recognition journal. This work was considered the best article published in the journal in 2012. The work was co-authored by professors João Paulo Papa (UNESP), Victor Hugo C. de Albuquerque (UNIFOR) and João Manuel RS Tavares (University of Porto) .

2013

Prof. Dr. Luiz Bittencourt was awarded the Young Professional Award from the IEEE Communications Society Latin America Region.

Prof. Dr. Ricardo de Oliveira Anido, received, in July 2013, from the Brazilian Computer Society, the Newton Faller Award for his important activities of the National Computer Community, especially the Brazilian Computer Olympics (OBI) and Programming Marathon . 

Prof. Dr. Julio César Lopez Hernández received the Best Article Award from the CHES Workshop (Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems), with the article entitled: “Lambda coordinates for binary curves”. Co-authors of the article are: Thomaz Oliveira, Diego Aranha, and Francisco Rodriguez.
