Maria Cec lia Calani Baranauskas

Full Professor at the Institute of Computing (IC) and Coordinator of the Center for Applied Informatics Education (NIED), UNICAMP, Brazil. Bachelor and Master in Computer Science and PhD in Electrical Engineering from UNICAMP (1993). Honorary Research Fellow at Staffordshire University and Visiting Fellow with Applied Informatics with Semiotics Lab at University of Reading, UK (2001-2002) . He received the Ibero-American Unicamp-Santander Banespa Chair to study accessibility problems in software engineering at the Universidad Polit cnica in Madrid, Spain (2006-2007). It was awarded the ACM SIGDOC Rigo Award in 2010. His research interests focus on human-computer interaction, particularly investigating different formalisms (including Organizational Semiotics and Participatory Design) in the analysis, design and evaluation of systems in design contexts for e-Citizenship and e-Inclusion. He was a Brazilian representative at the IFIP TC13 and a member of the SBC CE IHC; he is currently a member of the BR-CHI (an ACM SIGCHI local chapter) Executive Council.
