The Institute of Computing conducts research in Sustainable Computing.

Did you know that processing billions of data points in data centers requires enormous water consumption to prevent the machines from overheating?

The Institute of Computing, in partnership with the Federal Revenue Service, has been developing research in search of more sustainable solutions – such as the use of TV Boxes to perform small tasks locally.

This strategy reduces energy and water consumption by decentralizing processing and making it more efficient.

This initiative is part of the Sustainable Computing area, which proposes the use of computational technologies with less environmental impact, especially in the context of smart cities and with the support of artificial intelligence to solve everyday urban problems; it is supervised by Professor Juliana Freitag Borin.

In this scenario, Unicamp itself becomes a great laboratory for the development of innovative solutions!

Less environmental impact, more technological efficiency.
