Project welcomes British David Gamez, author of 'Human and Machine Consciousness'
The connection between intelligence and consciousness of both natural and artificial systems is still a difficult aspect to measure. But there are tools for this being created, and one of them will be presented in the next talk of the Rio-Campinas Connection, partnership between the Department of Informatics (DI) from PUC-Rio and the Institute of Computing (IC) of the University of Campinas (Unicamp), which promotes debates and exchanges of knowledge in Computing and Technologies.
Next Wednesday (27), at 18 pm, British researcher David Gamez, a professor at the Department of Computer Science at Middlesex University, will give the lecture "Natural and Artificial Intelligence: Natural and Artificial Consciousness". Book author "Human and Machine Consciousness”, which presented the world with an unprecedented basis for research on the subject, Gamez studies the relationship between artificial intelligence and machine consciousness, which often runs into philosophical dilemmas. To overcome these barriers, the British researcher created new technological tools and models that he will present in the virtual lecture.
In it, Gamez will show the algorithm developed by himself and which manages to perform a kind of universal measurement of intelligence, an aspect for which it is still difficult to create accurate predictions due to the many variables considered to determine what is intelligent and what is not, according to the researcher.
The British also created a new way of measuring and predicting behavior in the field of consciousness, both natural and that of machines, based on a series of definitions that he developed and will present in the lecture. The tool, according to Gae¡mez, can help researchers identify exact and mathematical relationships in the measurement of consciousness.
In this way, Gamez opens a new perspective for more precise and reliable steps in identifying connections between artificial intelligence and machine consciousness.
