Conclusion now is 

* the VNs was bound when zod was written on it (or the binding was
  already planned and the scribe followed the plan).  That is 
  proved by the sequence of the signs on the bifolios.  Aries Dark
  is in the middle of a bifolio between a cosmo page and Pisces.
  Aries Light is at the rightmost panel of a bifolio and Taurus
  Dark is on the other side, followed by Taurus Light etc.
