Images were taken with a Sony Mavica CD300 camera, recorded on 156 MB CD's. Typically a batch of fragments was placed on a stand, possibly with test targets, and photographed with several lighting fields, viewpoints, and fragment poses. The images taken on a given day were recorded in one or more CD. The camera saves the images with names DSC{NNNNN}.JPG where {NNNNN} is an automatically incremented 5-digit serial number. The numbering is continuous through sessions but occasionally the camera counter was reset by the operator. Each CD was manually labeled with the date ({YYYY}-{MM}-{D}) and, on days when more than one CD was created, also a serial digit {C} (1,2,...) The raw Mavica CDs were then copied on ordinary 600MB CDs for backup, and then copied to hard disk, under names RAW/{YYYY}-{MM}-{DD}-{C}/DSC{NNNNN}.JPG These CDs were processed so far: 2002-06-27-1 2002-08-12-1 2002-08-20-1 2002-08-29-1 2002-08-30-1 2002-08-30-2 2002-09-10-1 2002-09-12-1 2002-09-20-1 2002-09-26-1 2002-10-01-1 2002-10-07-1 2002-10-21-1 2002-10-24-1 2002-10-31-1 2002-12-10-1 2002-12-12-1 2002-12-12-2 2003-01-31-1 2003-02-03-1 There was a directory "2002-08-30-0" but it was just a copy of some images from 2002-08-30-1, and it was deleted. The old directory 2002-08-29-0 was replaced by 2002-08-29-1. The old directory 2002-09-11-0 was replaced by 2002-09-10-1. CREATING BROWSE VERSIONS OF RAW IMAGES The raw CD300 images are 2048 x 1536, rather uncomfortable to handle and view. The script "tools/make-small-versions" created smaller versions of each image {F}.JPG, in the same directory: {F}-s.JPG, 1/4 linear size, 512 x 384 {F}-e.JPG, 1/4 linear size, 512 x 384, normalized {F}-i.JPG, 1/32 linear size, 64 x 48 Listing all images in the RAW directory: find RAW -type f -ls \ | gawk '//{ printf "%10d %s\n", $7,$11; }' \ | sort -b +1 -2 \ > .rawimages
