RAW SCANS

  The raw scans are in directory 00-DATA/scan/raw
  
  The scans were made with an HP 8250 scanner, at 600 dpi, color.
  Each scan covered the upper or lower half of a page. Each scan
  is rotated +90 or -90 degrees relative to the normal reading direction.

  Files are named "{YYYY}-{MM}-{DD}-p{PP}-{S}" after the nominal issue
  date, where {PP} is the page number (as printed) and {S} is 0 for
  bottom, 1 for top; or 0a, 1a, 1b etc for extra scans.
  
  The resolution is high enough to resolve the halftoning patterns.
  Given the nature of the illustrations and the poor registration of the
  color plates, the resolution can probably be reduced to 300 dpi or
  less, preferably after removing the halftone screen.
