Project: build databases with >10^4 images of widely varied subjects,
standardized as to size and resolution, to be used as test data for
various searching and image processing tools.

    A set of about 3000 PNG images fetched from the WVU 2008 workshop
    (held together with CVPR 2008, june, Anchorage).

    An early attempt at a standardized database, 
    consisting of images found in my home directory, processed
    to reduce them to uniform size 512 × 512. 
    Prepared for Chenca's thesis, but never used.

    A new attemt to gather all sufficiently large images in my
    homedir into a raw database. 
  
  from-google
  
    A raw database of JPEG images obtained from the net, located by
    querying the Google Images search service.  The queries
    were picked at random, with a bias toward biological subjects.
  
COPYRIGHT STATUS

  This collection probably includes many images that are protected by
  copyright. Since the images have been posted to the net, we assume
  that it is OK to download them and use them as generic test data. 

  On the other hand, it may be illegal to publish or post any images
  from this database, or allow it to be searched for the purpose of
  locating specific images of interest.
