EXPERIMENTS WITH PARAFFIN

2017-01-13

  Paraffin (from candles?) melts at ~70 C.
  
  Melted ~170 g in two batches. Filtered through towel paper into a
  small rectangular PE box, starting at ~110C down to 70 C.  Got
  two soap-size tablets of 80g each.

  Grated some paraffin and left it stand under some vimak on it. The
  Vimak seems to dissolve only part of it. On evaporation, the
  dissolved part seems to consist of lamellar crystals.

2017-01-15

  The vimak extract of paraffin leaves an oily residue on evaporation.
  Not good as a release agent.

  Paraffin seems to dissolve partially in thinner Anjo Eco.
