Landini's editorial marks

Besides the FSG encodings, Landini's file uses the following additional symbols:

Here is the meaning of those markers:

• In any given "layer" of the interlinear file, the `%' character denotes some glyph or space that is present in some other layer but missing in this one. To obtain a "clean" text, you must examine each `%', and either delete it or replace it by the appropriate glyph.

• Transcription notes are surrounded in braces `{...}'. To obtain a "clean" text, just delete them.

• The notation `[c1|c2|...]' indicates that different sub-versions of this layer disagree at this spot. To obtain a "clean" text, you must choose one of the alternatives.

• The `!' character is a meaningless filler used to maintain alignment; it is inserted in some layer where some other layer has editorial comments or alternatives, or uses an alternate encoding of the same glyph that takes more bytes. To obtain a "clean" text, just delete them.
