Abstract: We study geometric problems that arise in casting. Casting is a manufacturing process where liquid is poured into a cast that has a cavity with the shape of the object to be manufactured. The liquid then hardens, after which the cast is removed. In this paper we consider the case where the cast consists of two parts and we address problems concerning the removal of the cast parts. In particular, we study the following question: Given a cast for a object and a direction d, is it possible to... (Update)
