  1. On Monday, Johnny brings 2 apples to school. Betsy brings 1 apple, and Tommy brings 3. The teacher takes 3 apples home, and leaves the rest on her desk.
  2. On Tuesday, Johnny brings 3 more apples, and Betsy brings 2. Tommy brings none, but grabs 3 from the desk and takes them home. The teacher takes 2 to her home and leaves the rest on the desk.
  3. On Wednesday, Johnny brings none but takes 1 from the desk. Betsy brings 3 and Tommy brings 2. The teacher eats 1 during the break and takes 1 home.
  4. On Thursday, Johnny brings 5 apples, Betsy and Tommy take 2 each, and the teacher takes as many as Tommy brought on Monday, minus one.
  5. On Friday, Johnny brings 1 apple, Betsy brings 3, and Tommy brings none. The teacher takes half of the apples on the desk, and gives the rest to Betsy, except that she gives 2 each to the boys.

Question

All together, through that week, did the children take home more apples than they brought to school, or fewer apples?
