Considering the complex interior of Khufu's, that minimalist design must have seemed an awful waste of work to the Pharaohs and their architects. I bet that there is some chamber somewhere inside each of them, although obviously not in the same location as in Khufu's. If the goal is to protect the mummy from robbers, the actual burial chamber need not have an entrance, or even be anywhere near the surface of the monument. Those two pyramids deserve a muon scan, much more than Khufu's. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2025-01-16 Yes, it makes sense to start from the top. But that does not invalidate Al-Latif's story! The demolishing team would naturally have tried to remove the casing first, which was the most notable part of the pyramid. With that assumption, the details of the story still make sense. After the top 10-20 courses of the casing were removed, there would be dozens of workers at the top, and hundreds more below, breaking up the blocks and carting the pieces away. The task only became worse as they got down to the granite casing. Which seems to be where they finally gave up...
