XV WTD IC UNICAMP

The Thesis, Dissertation and Scientific Initiation Workshop is an event promoted by the Graduate Commission (CPG) of the Computing Institute (IC) of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). The WTD is in its XNUMXth edition and will be held at the Computing Institute of Unicamp, on December 09th to 11th, 2020. The purpose of the WTD is to disclose, especially to the Institute of Computing community, the research work being developed at the institute.

The target audience of the event are the professors and students of the graduate and undergraduate IC who wish to present their work and research projects in progress or recently concluded.

Why participate in WTD?

This event is an excellent opportunity for you:

  • Present your Scientific Initiation, PFG, Master's or Doctorate work to the IC community;

  • Present work conducted in graduate courses;

  • Rehearse your qualification or conference presentation;

  • Train and gain experience in presenting papers;

  • Receive feedback from people in other areas of Computing;

  • Expand your network of contacts!

General information

Each participant can participate in the event by presenting their work visually (lightning talk or full video) and submitting a short paper related to their research. See the Submission Rules for more details
  • lightning talk: Each presenter will have 5 minutes to present their work at the event in live format.

  • Full video: Each presenter will have 10 to 15 minutes to present their work at the event, however, unlike the lightning talk mode, the complete videos will be previously recorded by the presenter and their links must be made available.

  • short paper: In addition to the types of presentations mentioned above, those registered in this category may submit an article for publication in the Technical Report of the event (4-6 pages). The presenter will receive a certificate issued by the IC.

Submission Rules

Article formats should follow the recommendations below. The available models have indications of mandatory content. Each model offers suggestions of colors, fonts and layout that can be changed according to the authors' preference.

Short Paper

Format:

  • The article can be written in English or Portuguese.

  • Size of 4 to 6 pages, including bibliographic references.

  • It is important that the article includes the following items: abstract and summary (regardless of the language of the work), context (with the motivation and definition of the problem), objectives, method, results and conclusions.

  • The topics should be addressed in a convenient manner, according to the research stage. For example, a student who is at the beginning of his work and has not yet achieved results can discuss the expected results.

  • Instructions for editing the article are present in the template itself.

  • The submission must be done in PDF format.

Submission:

  • Deadline for submission: up to 05/12/2020 to 23h55min (Brasilia time)

  • Send the presentation (in PDF format) to wtd.submissao@ic.unicamp.br

  • If in doubt write to wtd@ic.unicamp.br

Some tips for your work:

  • Topics should be addressed objectively.

  • Use legible letters and explanatory figures in place of text whenever possible.

  • LaTeX Quick Start is a good guide for those who haven't used LaTex yet.
