SBPC/2023 elections. Prof. Rodolfo Azevedo is elected Regional Secretary – São Paulo II Region

Prof. Rodolfo Jardim de Azevedo will take office on July 27 along with the others elected to the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science for a two-year term.

Several proposals will be made by the new secretaries together with the members and the community of the Region, such as:

  1. Increase the capillarity of SBPC's communications and actions;
  2. Plan actions to engage new members, especially among young people;
  3. Contribute to the articulation of local projects of the SBPC Goes to School Program together with basic education managers;
  4. Act, together with the board of directors and council of SBPC, in the mitigation of local obstacles to the development and dissemination and popularization of science.

Other proposals will be presented to the SBPC board and board:

  1. Increase the quality of communication between the SBPC and its local partners, becoming, together with the councilors of the State of São Paulo, a point of reference and support for the SBPC in the region;
  2. Promoting approximation of SR SP II with the directors of the region, and of both with the partners of the region;
  3. Work in an articulated manner with the SR SP I and SP III in actions with the Legislative Assembly of SP, government of the State of SP and São Paulo bench of federal deputies and senators, in actions in defense of education, science, technology, innovation, environment , democracy and human rights;
  4. Contribute to the improvement of SBPC's internal processes and communications, whenever applicable.

The Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science (SBPC), founded in 1948, is a civil, non-profit organization or party-political position, dedicated to the defense of scientific and technological advancement, and the educational and cultural development of Brazil.

Headquartered in São Paulo, the SBPC is present in other Brazilian states through Regional Secretariats and represents more than 170 affiliated scientific societies and thousands of active members, including researchers, professors, students and Brazilian citizens interested in science and technology.

Professor Rodolfo will continue his academic activities at the Instituto de Computação during his tenure.
